Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By uploading course content to CourseGenie.Play, you ("Teacher" or "User") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not upload or distribute course materials through this platform.

2. License Grant

By uploading course content, you grant CourseGenie.Play a non-exclusive, worldwide license to:

  • Store and host your course materials on our servers
  • Deliver course content to students enrolled in your courses
  • Process and analyze course data for platform improvements (anonymized)
  • Create backup copies for disaster recovery purposes

You retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights to your course materials.

3. User Responsibilities

As a teacher using CourseGenie.Play, you agree to:

  • Own or have permission to upload all course materials
  • Not upload copyrighted materials without proper licensing
  • Not upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
  • Not upload content that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Comply with all applicable academic integrity policies
  • Maintain professional and ethical conduct in course materials

4. Prohibited Content

You may not upload course materials that contain:

  • Copyrighted materials without authorization
  • Hate speech, discriminatory content, or harassment
  • Personal information of students or third parties (FERPA/GDPR violations)
  • Malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Pornographic or sexually explicit content
  • Content that promotes violence or illegal activities

5. Storage Limits

Each teacher account is allocated a default storage quota of 500 MB. This quota may be adjusted by administrators for grant-funded programs, scholarships, or premium accounts.

If you exceed your storage quota, you must:

  • Delete unused course materials to free up space, or
  • Contact an administrator to request a quota increase

CourseGenie.Play reserves the right to suspend upload privileges for accounts that consistently exceed their quota.

6. Content Removal

CourseGenie.Play reserves the right to remove course materials that:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Infringe on third-party intellectual property rights
  • Are reported by students or other users for policy violations
  • Are flagged by automated plagiarism or content screening systems

Teachers will be notified of content removal and may appeal the decision through the platform's support channels.

7. Data Privacy

CourseGenie.Play collects and processes course metadata (upload timestamps, file sizes, user IDs) for:

  • Storage quota enforcement
  • Platform analytics and improvement
  • Compliance with legal and academic standards

Course content is stored in isolated, tenant-specific directories and is not shared with third parties without your consent.

8. Plagiarism Detection

CourseGenie.Play uses automated plagiarism detection to identify potentially duplicated course materials. This feature is designed to:

  • Protect intellectual property rights of course authors
  • Maintain academic integrity across the platform
  • Prevent unauthorized redistribution of course materials

If your course is flagged for plagiarism, you will be notified and may be required to provide documentation proving your authorship or licensing rights.

9. Warranty Disclaimer

CourseGenie.Play is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • That the platform will meet your specific requirements
  • That course materials will be free from corruption or data loss

You are responsible for maintaining backup copies of your course materials.

10. Limitation of Liability

CourseGenie.Play and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • Data loss due to hardware failure, software bugs, or user error
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your account
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from platform use

Maximum liability is limited to the fees paid for premium services (if applicable).

11. Termination

CourseGenie.Play reserves the right to terminate or suspend your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Upload prohibited content
  • Engage in fraudulent or malicious activity

Upon termination, you may export your course materials within 30 days. After this grace period, all course data will be permanently deleted.

12. Changes to Terms

CourseGenie.Play may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notifications.

Continued use of the platform after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction to be determined]. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or the courts of [Jurisdiction].
